After making the decision to find a new mechanic, my “asking around” consisted of one person (thanks Matt!) highly recommending Past & Present. I was in need of an oil change, rear wiper and a long overdue state inspection…as someone who knows very little about vehicles, I try my best to avoid being taken advantage of. I called Past & Present and Laura was absolutely delightful as my first point of contact, and I was able to make an appointment for the same day - super convenient for someone like myself who has a tendency of “scheduling” everything at the last minute 😅 The shop was easy to find and as soon as I entered, I immediately felt at home - picture your buddy’s attached garage with a slightly worn-in sofa, some older magazines and family coming and going…the atmosphere I was looking for, as opposed to some corporate setup or dealership waiting room. Going in, I knew I needed an oil change, rear wiper blade (I’m lazy, judge me 🤣) and a long overdue state inspection - the latter being what made my wallet nervous. The mechanic got to work quickly, and I barely had a chance to crave a few puffs off my vape before he came out to tell me the damage. I was informed that everything passed but the front brakes will need to be replaced soon, and the oil and wiper were changed. Deep within my soul, I felt that the car would pass no problem, but due to past experiences with other mechanics, I truly appreciate not having to worry about being talked into unnecessary work. That in and of itself is HUGE to me. I will be more than happy to bring my business to Past & Present, as well as recommending them to others

I’ve been bringing my vehicles here for several years, and I honestly wouldn’t go anywhere else. They are knowledgeable, trustworthy, fair, and always do excellent work. It’s hard to find a repair shop you can truly trust, and these guys have earned mine time and time again. Hands down the best repair shop around. I highly recommend them!

My brand new hybrid honda crv broke down on my way to nh from Rockland Maine. After a quick Google search that told me I should call past and present auto I did. Without hesitation I was told they would fit me in. Thru the whole experience I was completely confident that I went to right place. Every person I talked to was helpful, pleasant and made me feel like my car was a priority. I was updated on the status of my car-I had a blown electric water pump- and parts- they would have to be shipped from California-and that my car would be taken care of asap. Todd the owner then came in on his day off to make sure I had my car back instead of it having to sit AND THEN went out his way to fix my tire that had a staple in it without charging me for it! I can not say enough positive things about past and present auto, other than I wish they were closer so I could use them as my mechanic 😂 thank u Todd, Laura and Lou (sorry if i spelled names wrong) you ALL were so kind!
